Eindhoven is a city of design and innovation. But not only that! Here is a list of my favourite things to do in Eindhoven on a sunny day. Be dutch. Go cycling. Take a bike and take a tour around the city and the parks. Start by visiting The Tourist Information Office located right opposite the station. They have all the information you need about "Rondje Eindhoven". They also have lots of [Read more...]
Sports in Eindhoven are never boring. There is a place where you can try to lift your whole body using nothing but fingers and toes, hang up-side-down or walk the walk on a wire. Discovering the Monk was like discovering an elephant right in front of your nose. I saw the sign before, but never thought that it was anything but an industrial building. Apparently it is one of the best bouldering [Read more...]
Robots at RoboCup European Open 2016. Best way to spend your weekend in Eindhoven. Best way to learn something new. Best way to experience the future. I didn't expect RoboCup European Open 2016 to be so much fun! Not only did we finally visit Evoluon, but we also got to check-out all those different robots! Here is a short video I made. https://youtu.be/YSBGLHFqY7I
Can I be honest? I got inspired to visit this new place in Eindhoven after seeing a couple of posts on Facebook. Posts by The Happiness Cafe were engaging. I could follow how it was built up, the inspirations, the result. Nice touch. Lucky me, on Friday they work until 20:00. An opportunity to pop-in after work made me even more happy. The place seemed bigger on pictures [Read more...]
When I was on my way to meet the food designer Chloe Rutzerveld, I was expecting to enter a studio from a futuristic sci-fi movie. The whole idea of 3D food printing just seemed too strange and too unhealthy. Why would you want to print food? Why use technology? Why question the "design" developed by nature itself? Why even think of 3D food printing? ...The door opened...and I met Chloe...with [Read more...]
Don’t listen to people when they tell you that Dutch can’t cook. They can and they do it with style. One of my favorite ways to discover new places to eat in Eindhoven or in other cities in the Netherlands is by joining WijnSpijs. We call it a ‘’walking dinner’’. In fact, you get five hours to eat at seven different places. To which you have to walk, of course. The whole day turns into one big [Read more...]
Really enjoyed the official opening speech by Mr. Rob van Gijzel (Mayor of Eindhoven) and Mr. Harry Roumen (Chairman Stichting GLOW). It made the whole event and Eindhoven as a city feel even more special. Would be great if such speech could take place every day so everyone could hear some interesting and inspirational facts. It was nice to learn where the “light route” (Lichtjesroute) came from; [Read more...]
Love living in Eindhoven. From now on, I will publish a post about the wonderful places and people in this great city. The hunt for great stories begins this Saturday! Why? GLOW 2015! A yearly event I absolutely love. This Saturday is the opening! Can't wait!
